Be the Change Project

Leppilal & Isdori, two of Orkeeswa's first students, preserving their past while ensuring their future through education.

The "Be the Change Project" began in 2007 by Jeff Britton and Jenny Walker. Our current fundraising campaign will see all donated money going directly toward projects at Orkeeswa Secondary School, most specifically towards ensuring the highest quality of education and health services for our students!

Orkeeswa Secondary School opened on April 14th, 2008 in Lashaine Village, Tanzania. Tanzania is recognized as one of the least developed nations worldwide, with only 7% of Tanzanians having the opportunity to complete secondary school. Orkeeswa is Lashaine Village's first secondary school, developed by the Indigenous Education Foundation of Tanzania (IEFT), a grass roots non-profit organization. The organization strives to preserve the past while ensuring the future through education. We now have over 100 students at Orkeeswa, each with a genuine desire to learn and better themselves and their community. With their education they want to help their poverty-stricken village grow and survive.

The time is now to "Be the Change!"
